Casey Juliano, a librarian turned robotics coach, has emerged as a leader in the Nevada VIQRC community. With mentorship from Greenspun Junior High’s Matt Carberry, Juliano began coaching elementary teams and now leads six annually. She regularly mentors new coaches and Event Partners and hosts a yearly tournament designed specifically for novice teams. Her advocacy and community-building approach continue to expand access to robotics in southern Nevada.
Juliano mentored at least six teams each season. Recently, she arranged for robotics students to have paddock access to the Las Vegas F1 Grand Prix, providing them with the unique opportunity to interact with and learn from F1 car engineers. Her advocacy for STEM education through robotics extends to her involvement with the city of Henderson and the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. Juliano leads by example and it’s common to see her former students who are now in High School and College come back and volunteer in robotics tournaments.
Juliano mentors new VEX coaches each year. She hosts an annual novice tournament for new teams, helping them begin their robotics journey. Additionally, she mentors new Event Partners, guiding them in organizing and running tournaments.
